[기초독해] 구문(008) - 부정사 (부정사의 시제 - 완료부정사)

* 완료부정사 (부정사의 시제)
He seems to be rich. (그는 부자인 것 같다.)
= It seems that he is rich. -> 단순부정사는 술부동사의 시제와 같다.
He seems to have been rich. (그는 부자였던 것 같다.)
= It seems that he was(or has been) rich. -> 완료부정사는 술부동사의 시제보다 앞선다.
* He seemed to work hard. = It seemed that he worked hard.
* He seemed to have worked hard. = It seemed that he had worked hard.
그러나 wished, hoped, intended, expected, was, were 등 다음에 완료부정사가 오면
이루지 못한 사실을 나타낸다.
* He intended to have come here. = He intended to come here but he couldn't come.
* Examples
1. 그가 죽었다고 보도되었다.
He was reported to have died.
2. 나는 그것이 실수였다고 믿는다.
I believe it to have been a mistake.
3. 그 여자는 전에 배우였다고 한다.
She is said to have been an actress.
4. 나는 정각에 오려고 했으나 그러지 못했다.
I expected to have come on time.
5. 그가 잘못했다는 것을 (그에게) 납득시키고 싶었는데.
I wished to have persuaded him that he was in the wrong.
* 독해
1. As a rule, it is better to revisit only in imagination the places which have greatly charmed us, or which in the retrospect, seem to have done so.
* as a rule = in general 대개/ retrospect = 회상
(해석) 우리에게 매우 매력을 주었고, 혹은 회상을 해 볼 때 그렇게 했던 것처럼 보이는 고장들을 상상력으로만 다시 방문하는 것이 대개 더 좋다.
2. He wished to have had his composition corrected the moment he entered the class. His regret for his failure to show it to his teacher in his shyness worried him later.
* composition = 작문/ have + 목적어 + 과거분사 = ~시키다, ~당하다/ correct = 교정하다/ regret = 후회/ shyness = 수줍음
(해석) 교실에 들어서자마자 자기 작문을 교정 받았더라면 좋았을 텐데 하고 그는 바랐다. 부끄러워 선생님에게 작문을 보이지 못한 후회가 그를 나중에 괴롭혔다.
