* 분사의 주격보어
동사 다음에 분사가 와서, 주어의 상태, 동작을 설명하는 주격보어의 역할을 한다.
The children came running to her. (어린애들은 그 여자에게 뛰어왔다.)
The old man sat surrounded by the children. (그 노인은 어린애들에 둘러싸여 앉아 있었다.)

She stood trembling at the sight.
2. 그는 그 결과에 만족한 것처럼 보인다.
He appears satisfied with the result.
3. 그 여자는 그에게 미소를 지으면서 대문에 서 있었다.

4. 그 여자는 한 평생 미혼으로 남아 있었다.
She remained unmarried all her life.

We kept standing for two hours.

2. It was a windy night. An old woman was sitting surrounded by her grandchildren, who were listening to her telling old stories to them. Her weak voice sounded sleepy and sometimes got interrupted by the wailing winds rattling the windows.
