[Problem]

‘생각지도 않은 횡재’ 이야기를 공유하고자 합니다. 제 사랑하는 할머니께서 알츠하이머 환자로 오래 투병한 끝에 최근 목숨을 잃으셨습니다. 임종에 가까워질 무렵, 저희는 할머니께서 얼마나 의식이 있으신지, 또 저희가 할머니께 말씀을 드릴 때 알아 들으시는지 확신할 수 없었어요. 오늘 밤, 제 남편과 제 자매, 그리고 제가 할머니 댁에서 저녁식사를 하고, 할머니의 장례식에 쓸 사진들을 살펴 보기로 결정했습니다.  
I have a special "Pennies From Heaven" story to share with you. My dear grandmother recently lost her long battle with Alzheimer's. Toward the end, we weren't sure how aware she was, and if she understood us when we spoke to her. Tonight, my husband, my sister and I decided to have dinner at Grandma's house and go through her photos for her funeral.

저녁식사를 마친 후, 제 자매가 초콜릿이 있는지 저희 부부에게 물어봤어요. 남편은 “냉장고 안에 있는 초콜릿은 어때?” 하고 말했습니다. 저는 아무 것도 보지 못했었는데, 제가 가서 보니, 서랍과 서랍 사이에 끼인 막대 초콜릿 한 통이 있었어요. 포장지에 표시된 유효 기일은 2년 전, 할머니께서 이 집에서 최후로 거주하셨을 때였습니다.  
After dinner, my sister asked if we had any chocolate. My husband said, "What about the chocolate in the refrigerator?" I hadn't seen any, but when I went to look, there was a packet of chocolate bars wedged in between the drawers. The expiration date on the wrapper was two years ago, when Grandma last lived in the house.

Abby, the refrigerator had been cleaned out multiple times, but somehow we missed the chocolate until today when we needed a sign from my grandmother that she was near. Grandma was a Dear Abby fan.
