[Essay/¿µÀÛ] (T-137) Which one is better: a member vs. a leader in a group
¶ö¶ó  |  12-07-16 16:33

 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to be a member of a group than to be the leader of a group. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Groups will always have a single leader, it is the only way they will be able to function. While some people may believe that being the leader is better, others feel that it is better to be a follower of a group. I believe it is better to be a follower rather than the leader of a group because you will have less stress and still be able to acquire useful skills.
* single = Çϳª»ÓÀÎ, ÇϳªÀÇ / function = ±â´ÉÇÏ´Ù, ÀÛµ¿ÇÏ´Ù / follower = ½ÅºÀÀÚ, ÃßÁ¾ÀÚ / acquire = ¾ò´Ù, ÃëµæÇÏ´Ù

First, the leader of a group will have more stress from being required to make all important decisions. However, group members will only have a limited amount of responsibility. A group member will never have to make major decisions. For example, everyone in an office has their own duties and responsibilities. The office manager is the leader and therefore must deal with the stress of making all the stressful decisions. Workers will only have to complete their tasks. Any problems or delays that arise on office projects will have to be brought to the bosses attention by the office manager, with the manager bearing the brunt of the bosses dissatisfaction for any problems.
* limited = Á¦ÇÑµÈ / responsibility = Ã¥ÀÓ°¨ / major decision = ÁÖ¿äÇÑ, Áß´ëÇÑ °áÁ¤ / duty = Àǹ« / deal with = ´Ù·ç´Ù, ó¸®ÇÏ´Ù, ´ëóÇÏ´Ù / complete the task = ÀÏÀ» ¿Ï¼ºÇÏ´Ù / delay = Áö¿¬ / arise = ¹ß»ýÇÏ´Ù, ÀϾ´Ù, »ý±â´Ù / be brought to = µÇµ¹¾Æ°¡´Ù, °¡Á®°¡Áö´Ù / bear = Âü´Ù, °ßµð´Ù / brunt = °ø°Ý, ¸Í°ø / dissatisfaction = ºÒÆò, ºÒ¸¸

Second, being a leader requires special skills. Group members will be able to learn useful skills that they can use in many other situations. For instance, a new salesman may be on a marketing team for a product being launched in China. Regardless of the success or failure of the product in the Chinese market, the salesman will have learned skills that he can take to any other project or job. At a later date, because of previous experience, the salesman may be asked to join additional marketing teams analyzing success and failures of various products. If continuing along this path, the salesman may be eventually asked to lead their own marketing team to launch a product in a given market. The skills that group members build are not only useful for single projects. Skills are built on others as people gain experience. It is this process that allows people to learn and progress in life, eventually able to become a leader.
* special skill = Ưº°ÇÑ ±â¼ú / salesman = ÆǸſø, ¿µ¾÷»ç¿ø / launch = ÁøÃâ½ÃÅ°´Ù / success= ¼º°ø / failure = ½ÇÆÐ / analyze = ºÐ¼®ÇÏ´Ù / various = ´Ù¾çÇÑ / eventually = °á±¹, ¸¶Ä§³» / progress = ³ª¾Æ°¡´Ù, Áøº¸ÇÏ´Ù

In conclusion, while leaders have numerous benefits, there are also several drawbacks. Group leaders must deal with additional stress than group members, which is why I prefer being a group member. Group leaders also require specific skills. The skills required are learned over a long period of time, something that group members can learn at their own pace and comfort level.
* numerous = ¸Å¿ì ¸¹Àº, ¹«¼öÇÑ / drawback = ºÒ¸®ÇÑ Á¡, °áÁ¡ / stress = ½ºÆ®·¹½º / specific = Ư¼öÇÑ, ƯÁ¤ÇÑ / at one's own pace = ÀڽŸ¸ÀÇ ¼Óµµ·Î
