In the future, students may have the choice of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television or of studying at home at traditional schools. Which would you prefer? Use reasons and specific details to explain your choice.

Technology has found a place in nearly every part of lives these days. It has also affected education to the point where students might be able to study at home full time. Some people think students should study at home using computers and television. On the other hand, others believe it is better for students to attend traditional schools instead. From my point of view, it is better for students to go to school because it is a more effective way to study and help students develop important social skills.

First of all, studying in a traditional school setting is a more effective way to learn. While it is true that studying using technology can be beneficial, technology should only be used to supplement education. When students study at home alone with no interaction with teachers or classmates, they are at a disadvantage. Face to face interaction is necessary to fully understand the material being presented. I took an online course a few years ago, and it was very interesting, but often I had questions where the answers were not immediately available. However, in a traditional classroom setting, students can raise their hands and ask the teacher for more information or clarification. In that sense, studying at home using only technology, students may develop gaps in their knowledge. These gaps can be more effectively filled in through the guidance of a teacher.

Moreover, when students attend a traditional school, they can develop social skills. Part of the schooling process is the instruction of social skills. In a school, students learn to cooperate, make compromises and understand the opinions of other people. These are skills that they need to carry them into adulthood and the working world. Students who study at home using only technology can learn information, but they will have trouble functioning in the working world where they may be required to work along with a group of people varying in opinions. Seeing that socialization is another important function of traditional schools, that is one more gap that studying through only technology can form.

It is true that technology can be a useful tool in the education of students, but it cannot replace the vital functions that a traditional school plays. Traditional schools provide an effective education, and they also teach the all-important social skills students need in society. To have a well-rounded education, students should attend traditional schools.
